Apple is a global consumer technology company, and Apple Watch is its main health wearable. Worn on the wrist, the watch combines everyday smartwatch functions with activity, heart, sleep, temperature and safety features. The exact set of features depends on the model and country.
How it works
Lights beneath the watch measure changes in blood flow to estimate pulse and blood oxygen. Metal contacts record the heart’s electrical signal when a finger touches the crown, while other sensors track movement, temperature and sound. The Watch and Health apps present the results as readings, trends, alerts and workout records.
Key considerations
Apple Watch works most fully with an iPhone, and several health features are unavailable on cheaper models or in certain regions. The watch also requires regular charging.
