Therabody is a Los Angeles company built on the Theragun, the handheld device that turned percussive massage into a consumer category. The range now includes compression boots, heated and cooled wraps, muscle stimulation pads, a vibrating eye mask and a red light face mask.

How it works

A Theragun holds a motor driving a rubber head back and forth many times a second, so pressure arrives as short repeated strikes that reach further into muscle than a hand can press. Other products in the range work through air pressure, heat, cold, light or small electrical pulses. Most pair with an app that suggests routines by body part, and the eye mask reads heart rate to adapt what it does.

Almost nothing in the range measures the body, so results are felt at the time and hard to see afterwards.
