InBody is a South Korean health technology company known for body composition analysers for clinics, gyms and homes. Its systems estimate body water, lean tissue and fat. The range includes professional machines and home scales.
How it works
Electrodes send small electrical currents through the body and measure how strongly different tissues resist them. Water rich muscle conducts current more easily than fat. InBody devices use these impedance measurements, often across several frequencies and body segments, to calculate total body water, muscle mass, fat mass and related values.
Key considerations
Results are estimates and can shift with hydration, meals, exercise, skin temperature and recent bathroom use. Measurements are most useful when repeated under similar conditions. People with implants or medical concerns should follow professional guidance.
