WHAT THEY MAKE

Whoop is an American company for sleep, recovery and training load. Its screenless band is worn on the wrist or in clothing, with results in the Whoop app and an ongoing membership.

How it works

Green and infrared lights measure changes in blood flow at the skin. Temperature and motion sensors add context. Software estimates heart rate, heart rate variability, breathing and sleep, then creates Strain, Recovery and Sleep scores. A journal helps compare those scores with reported habits.

Key considerations

An active subscription is essential. Fit, motion, exercise type and skin contact affect readings, and wrist heart rate can be less reliable during rapid or gripping movements. Recovery and sleep stages are algorithmic estimates based on a personal baseline. Some advanced health features differ by membership and region. Whoop supports training decisions and does not diagnose illness, overtraining or sleep disorders.
