Samsung is a South Korean company whose Galaxy Watch range combines smartwatch features with fitness and health tracking. The watches sit on the wrist and connect most closely with Samsung phones and the Samsung Health platform.
How it works
Colored lights measure pulse, blood oxygen and skin compounds from reflected light. Electrical contacts can record a short heart rhythm trace, while a weak current estimates body composition from tissue resistance. Motion, temperature and satellite sensors support activity, sleep and route tracking. Some models estimate blood pressure after calibration with an upper arm cuff.
Key considerations
Health features vary by watch, phone, country and regulatory approval. Blood pressure needs repeated cuff calibration, and wrist movement, fit, skin contact and temperature affect readings. Electrocardiogram and sleep apnea tools screen for selected patterns and cannot rule out disease. The watches do not replace clinical monitoring or medical diagnosis.
