Suunto is a Finnish company known for sports watches, dive computers and outdoor instruments. Its watches support outdoor and endurance training, with navigation and recovery features in the Suunto app.
How it works
Optical sensors shine light into the wrist to estimate heart rate, while satellite positioning records pace, distance and routes. Motion sensors track activity and sleep, and selected models add a barometer, compass, blood oxygen estimates and heart rate variability. The app turns these signals into training load, fitness and recovery insights.
Key considerations
Features vary by model, and optical readings can be affected by movement, fit, tattoos, skin temperature and exercise type. GPS accuracy and battery life depend on the recording mode. Sleep stages, blood oxygen and recovery metrics are estimates rather than diagnoses. A chest strap may be more reliable for heart rate during intense training.
