WHAT THEY MAKE

Neurosity is an American company that makes the Crown, an eight channel electroencephalography headset. It is designed for focus, meditation, research and brain computer interfaces. Users can access scores or raw data through software tools.

How it works
Dry electrodes across the scalp detect electrical activity from brain cells. Processing inside the headset converts patterns into measures such as focus and calm. Developers can stream electroencephalography, motion and frequency band data into their own applications, while consumer features can adapt music or feedback to the detected state.

Key considerations
The Crown cannot read thoughts or provide a clinical brain assessment. Fit, hair, jaw movement, eye movement and nearby electronics may affect signal quality. Interpreted mental states depend on algorithms and context, while raw data requires technical skill.
