Mave Health is a young company from Bengaluru, now selling in India and the United States, that makes a brain stimulation headset called Arc. It weighs under a hundred grams, sits across the forehead and is worn for twenty minutes a day during ordinary activities.

How it works

Two electrodes rest on the scalp and pass one to two milliamps between them, a current about what a nine volt battery would push through skin. It does not make neurons fire. It leaves the prefrontal cortex a little readier to fire, and that region sits close to the middle of mood, attention and stress regulation. The app runs each session and collects how users rate their mood over weeks.

Key considerations

Arc is sold as a general wellness product, which keeps it outside the FDA clearance route, and the published results are self reported.
