Vielight is a Canadian company that makes photobiomodulation devices. Neuro systems place light emitting modules across the scalp and inside one nostril, with other nasal products.
How it works
The modules shine pulsed red or near infrared light into tissue. Light passes through the scalp and skull, while the nasal applicator uses thinner tissue. Cells can absorb the light for energy production, which may influence metabolism and blood flow. Different models use different pulse rates and programmes.
Key considerations
Only a small portion of light reaches deeper brain tissue, and the delivered dose varies with placement, anatomy and hair. Research on photobiomodulation is growing, but evidence for each model and outcome remains limited. The devices are expensive and require repeated use. Vielight products do not diagnose or treat dementia, brain injury, depression or other neurological conditions unless specifically cleared for that purpose.
