Halo Neuroscience began in San Francisco with Halo Sport, a set of headphones that stimulated the motor cortex of athletes and musicians during training. Flow Neuroscience of Sweden bought the technology in 2021, and the Halo name now sits on a Swedish designed headset for mood, sleep and focus.

How it works

The headset presses two damp pads against the forehead and passes a weak, constant current between them, which leaves the prefrontal cortex more active than it would otherwise be. That region governs mood, attention and the shift from alertness into sleep. Sessions run thirty minutes, five times a week for the first three weeks and three times a week after that, all controlled from a phone.
