AWEAR is an early stage neurotechnology company developing a wearable for stress awareness. Its device is a small adhesive patch placed around the ear, a location that allows longer recordings and is less noticeable than the electrode caps normally used to measure brain activity.
How it works
Electrodes detect tiny electrical signals produced when groups of brain cells communicate. Software filters out background noise and looks for patterns linked to changes in mental state. The app is designed to show when stress rises, identify personal triggers and suggest exercises that may help the wearer recover.
Key considerations
AWEAR is still a beta product and is not an established medical device. Public information about its accuracy, battery life, replacement frequency and independent testing remains limited. Its stress estimates and proposed benefits are currently supported mainly by information from the company.
