WHAT THEY MAKE

Withings is a French company that makes connected scales, hybrid watches, blood pressure and sleep monitors. Its products are designed to look like familiar objects while sending measurements to the Withings app for tracking.

How it works

Devices use different sensors. Watches shine light into the wrist and can record a short electrical heart signal. Scales measure weight and send a weak current to estimate composition. Cuffs detect arterial pressure changes. Software stores trends, produces reports and combines measurements across products.

Key considerations

Clinical status varies by product, feature and country. Scale composition depends on hydration and statistical models, while wrist readings depend on fit and movement. A short electrocardiogram can screen for selected rhythms but cannot detect every heart problem. Some insights require subscriptions, and useful history depends on consistent syncing. Withings devices can support home monitoring but do not replace diagnosis or interpretation.
