ASUS is a Taiwanese electronics company best known for computers, but its VivoWatch range focuses on personal health monitoring. The range includes watches and slim bands worn on the wrist. Selected models also take fingertip measurements through optical and metal sensors built into the case.
How it works
Green and infrared light measure changes in blood flow beneath the skin, which software uses to estimate heart rate and blood oxygen. Touching the metal contacts allows the device to record the heart’s electrical activity. Some models combine these readings to estimate blood pressure, body composition, sleep, stress and activity, with results stored in the ASUS HealthConnect app.
Key considerations
Products and features differ between markets, and blood pressure or electrocardiogram functions are not available everywhere.
