How it works

An air pump inflates a narrow cuff inside the watch strap. As the cuff releases pressure, sensors detect vibrations from the wrist artery. An algorithm calculates blood pressure. Optical lights estimate pulse and blood oxygen, while motion sensors support activity and sleep.

Key considerations

Wrist cuffs are sensitive to position, strap fit, movement and wrist size. The arm must remain still at heart level for readings. Validation and regulatory status vary by model and country, so results may differ from a clinically approved upper arm monitor. Sleep and oxygen outputs are consumer estimates. BP Doctor can support trend tracking but does not diagnose hypertension, heart rhythm problems or sleep disorders.
