WHAT THEY MAKE

Philips is a Dutch company with hospital, sleep, respiratory and consumer products. Its wearables include clinical biosensors and the SmartSleep Deep Sleep Headband. The headband monitor sleep and deliver sound during deep sleep.

How it works
Sensors on the forehead and behind the ear detect signals used to identify sleep stages. When the system detects deep sleep, speakers deliver timed audio tones intended to reinforce slow brainwave activity without waking users. Sleep data transfers to the SleepMapper app. Philips also offers clinical wearable sensors for professional vital sign monitoring.

Key considerations
Philips wearable products serve different markets and may not be available everywhere. SmartSleep requires firm sensor contact, charging and adhesive sensors, creating ongoing cost. It is intended to enhance deep sleep already present and does not treat sleep deprivation or diagnose a disorder. Clinical products require professional deployment and interpretation.
