WHAT THEY MAKE

HeartMath is an American wellness company focused on heart rate variability training. Its Inner Balance system combines an ear clip pulse sensor with a mobile app. It is designed to help users practise stress regulation.

How it works
Light based detectors in the ear clip measure the pulse and the changing time between heartbeats, known as heart rate variability. The app displays the rhythm and calculates a coherence score based on how smooth and regular the pattern becomes. A visual breathing pacer and guided exercises help users change their breathing while watching the feedback in real time.

Key considerations
Coherence is a HeartMath training measure and is not a medical diagnosis or complete assessment of the nervous system. Movement, poor sensor contact and irregular heart rhythms may affect readings. Benefits depend on regular practice, and the device does not treat anxiety or cardiovascular disease.
