Truvaga is the consumer brand of electroCore, an American bioelectronic medicine company in New Jersey that also sells a prescription device for migraine and a ruggedised version used by the military. Truvaga is a handheld unit pressed against the side of the neck for two minutes at a time.

How it works

The vagus nerve runs up the neck close enough to the surface to be reached from outside. Two metal contacts, wetted with a conductive spray, pass a mild electrical pulse through the skin to that nerve, which carries the signals that settle the body after stress. Sessions are usually taken twice a day, and the app on the newer model logs them and holds programmes for sleep, stress and focus.
