Throne Science is an American company that makes a sensor for toilets. Throne One clips to the rim and tracks bowel movements and urine, with results sent to an app after each visit.

How it works

A downward facing camera records the bowl contents, while other sensors measure urine flow. Image software classifies stool form using the Bristol Stool Scale and tracks frequency and colour. Urine colour supports hydration estimates. Multiple household profiles can be separated using device data.

Key considerations

Camera angle, toilet shape, cleaning products, lighting and mixed waste can affect readings. Stool and urine appearance provide useful patterns but cannot reveal the cause of a change. The device requires charging, cleaning, reliable internet access and a membership for ongoing insights. Its intimate data also makes privacy controls important. Throne supports wellness tracking and does not diagnose digestive, kidney or urinary conditions.
