SleepScore Labs is an American company that now operates as Sleep.ai. It develops sleep software for consumers and partner brands. Its SleepScore app tracks sleep from a bedside phone, so no wearable is required.
How it works
The phone speaker sends sound waves that are too high for most people to hear. The waves reflect from the sleeper, and the microphone detects changes from movement and breathing. Software estimates sleep onset, awakenings and sleep stages, then provides a nightly score, smart alarm and guidance. The company also licenses its technology and testing services to businesses.
Key considerations
Phone placement, background noise, another person or pets can affect readings. Sonar estimates sleep from movement and breathing and does not record the electrical brain activity used in a laboratory sleep study. Some app features require payment.
