WHAT THEY MAKE

FoodMarble is an Irish digestive health company that makes portable breath testers. Its AIRE 2 measures gases linked with food fermentation and pairs readings with meal and symptom logs. The system helps people explore foods associated with bloating or digestive discomfort.

How it works
The user breathes into the device after eating or during a guided food challenge. Sensors measure hydrogen and methane, gases produced when gut microbes ferment carbohydrates. These gases enter the bloodstream and reach the breath. The app charts readings over time and compares them with foods and symptoms to reveal patterns.

Key considerations
Useful results require consistent timing, careful food logging and repeated measurements. Breath gas levels can be affected by preparation, transit time and conditions such as small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.
