WHAT THEY MAKE

Bia Neuroscience is a Canadian sleep technology company developing the Bia Smart Sleep Mask. The padded mask covers the eyes and contains sensors, speakers and a light based alarm. It is designed to measure sleep and deliver personalised sound while the wearer rests.

How it works
Infrared light passes through the forehead and measures changes in blood flow linked to brain activity. Motion, temperature and sound sensors add context about the sleeping environment. The mask uses bone conduction speakers to send sound through the bones around the ear. Its software adjusts these soundscapes using the recorded sleep signals and presents results in an app.

Key considerations
Bia remains in beta production, with only a small number of customers currently testing units. Final performance, reliability and independent evidence are therefore still limited.
