Stryd is an American company that makes a power meter clipped to a shoe. It connects with sports watches and the Stryd app to provide pacing, training and race guidance.
How it works
Motion sensors measure foot movement through each step. An environmental opening measures wind, heat and humidity. Software combines these signals with speed and slope to estimate running power in watts, pace, distance and mechanical stress. Power aims to represent effort across conditions when hills or wind change. Two pods compare left and right movement.
Key considerations
Running power is a modelled value and brands may produce different numbers. The pod must be attached securely and charged, while body weight and settings need to be accurate. Some training analysis and adaptive plans require membership.
