Sleep Number is an American company known for adjustable air beds and connected sleep tracking. Its smart beds set firmness on each side and use the SleepIQ app to show nightly sleep patterns.
How it works
Air chambers inside the mattress inflate or deflate to change support. Pressure sensors detect body movement, breathing related motion and the presence of each sleeper without a wearable. Software estimates sleep timing, restlessness, heart rate and breathing, then creates a SleepIQ score. Some beds adjust firmness automatically or move air through the surface to manage temperature.
Key considerations
The bed infers sleep from movement and pressure and cannot match a laboratory study. Partners, pets and time spent awake in bed may confuse results. Advanced bases and climate features add considerable cost, while pumps, hoses, electronics and app access create more points that may need service.
